Nina Slesinger is a writer, filmmaker, and cultural worker with over a decade of experience in production, editing, strategy, and executive support. Her background is in creative writing and performance, and in all of her roles she’s committed to community and creativity.
She is currently a personal assistant to a filmmaker and actor, a post-production supervisor for a handful of short films, and a contributing writer to several publications. She also has extensive experience in events and hospitality.
Nina earned her M.F.A. in Cinema Arts from CUNY Brooklyn College’s Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. Her final paper, “The Met As a Cinematic Icon and Emotional Catalyst,” examined the role of the Metropolitan Opera as a symbol of cultural aspiration and a stage for human drama. For her thesis, she produced the short heist drama “All The Wrong Ways,” directed by John Dodderidge (forthcoming).
In 2024, Nina received the De Laurentiis Film Prize from the National Italian American Foundation. Her short hybrid documentary Chainstitch will premiere in late 2025.
As an independent programmer, she seeks to build film series that inspire, excite, and get people out of the house to watch movies with friends and strangers. She is especially passionate about the Queer New Wave, British cinema, thrillers, and musicals, as well as romantic comedies, spy movies, 80’s horror, camp, cyberpunk, epics, and so on….
When Nina’s not tap-tap-tapping on her keyboard, you can find her knitting a pair of socks, cooking a new recipe, or pumping iron at the gym.
She is based in Brooklyn, NY & Chicago, IL.
